2. What SpeedWatch does
SpeedWatch is a GPS speedometer app. It shows your current speed and, if you enable Pro features, it can record trip sessions and let you export your session history.
3. Data we use
SpeedWatch uses your location while you are using the app in order to calculate:
- Your current speed
- Distance and trip statistics during a session
If you use Pro trip recording, SpeedWatch may store start and end coordinates and, where available, convert them into a short place or street name (reverse geocoding).
4. Data we collect
Default behaviour:
- No account is required.
- We do not collect personal data on our own servers.
- Session history is stored locally on your device.
5. Export and sharing
If you use the export feature, SpeedWatch generates a CSV file on your device. Sharing only happens when you initiate it yourself through the iOS share sheet (for example via Mail).
We do not receive your exported file unless you choose to send it to us.
6. How we use data
We use location data solely to provide the app's functionality:
- Displaying speed in real time
- Calculating distance and session statistics
- Showing start and end location names where available
7. Retention and deletion
Session history stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual sessions or clear all sessions at once from within the app.
8. Data sharing
We do not sell your data. By default we do not share your data with third parties.
If you export or share data, you share it with the app or service you select. That service has its own privacy policy.
9. Permissions
Location permissions
- SpeedWatch requests access to your location in order to measure speed and distance.
- SpeedWatch does not require background location to work in the foreground.
If a future version introduces optional background location (for example to start sessions automatically in the background), we will update this policy and provide a clear in-app explanation before requesting any additional permissions.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect data stored in the app. No system is completely secure. We recommend using a passcode on your device.
11. Children
SpeedWatch is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete personal data. Because SpeedWatch stores data locally by default, you can delete your data directly in the app.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date shown at the top of this page.
