2. What SpeedWatch does

SpeedWatch is a GPS speedometer app. It can show your current speed and, if you enable Pro features, it can log trip sessions and allow you to export session history.

3. Data we use

SpeedWatch uses your location while you use the app to calculate:

  • Your current speed
  • Distance and trip statistics during a session

If you use Pro trip logging, SpeedWatch may store start and end coordinates and may convert them into a short place or street name (reverse geocoding) when available.

4. Data we collect

Default behavior:

  • No account is required.
  • We do not collect personal data on our own servers.
  • Session history is stored locally on your device.

5. Export and sharing

If you use the export feature, SpeedWatch generates a CSV file on your device. Sharing happens only when you initiate it via the iOS share sheet (for example using Mail).

We do not receive your exported file unless you choose to send it to us.

6. How we use data

We use location data only to provide app functionality:

  • Show speed in real time
  • Calculate distance and session statistics
  • Display start and end place names when available

7. Data retention and deletion

Session history remains on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual sessions or delete all sessions from within the app.

8. Data sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties by default.

If you choose to export or share data, you share it with the app or service you select. That service has its own privacy policy.

9. Permissions

Location permissions

  • SpeedWatch requests location access to measure speed and distance.
  • SpeedWatch does not require background location to function in the foreground.

If a future version introduces optional background location (for example, auto-start sessions in the background), we will update this policy and provide clear in-app explanation before requesting additional permissions.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect data stored within the app. No system is perfectly secure. We recommend using a passcode on your device.

11. Children

SpeedWatch is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

12. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access or delete personal data. Because SpeedWatch stores data locally by default, you can delete your data directly in the app.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the effective date above when changes are made.
